A hotel, a soul, a history

Our school is sensitive to the environment

For some years now, "La Balance" has been constantly questioning its impact on the planet. This awareness has prompted us to take more responsible action. To stay on course, we are focusing on three main areas:

  • People
  • Sustainability
  • Ecology
Patricia Bitard / directrice

  • On the challenges of sustainable tourism, environmental conservation and CSR
  • My team is trained in the eco-gestures to be observed in their daily tasks
  • We choose our service providers and suppliers on the basis of their sustainable and social commitments
  • On our website, we provide our customers with information and links about the animal and plant species in the surrounding area
  • We offer our customers information on how to limit car journeys: bike hire, public transport, car pooling, etc.

WE SAVE WATER AND ENERGY

  • I have installed water savers/pressure reducers on taps and showers so as not to deplete resources
  • We read our gas, water and electricity meters every month to better manage our consumption
  • We have installed a water recuperator to water our green spaces and thus limit the use of drinking water
  • We are replacing every light bulb with an LED or low-energy bulb, and have already fitted more than 75% of our lighting.
  • We are committed to the development of renewable energies, and have installed a charging point for electric vehicles
  • We belong to the "Vélo voyageur" label, with a facility for recharging bicycle batteries.

WE LIMIT AND SORT WASTE

  • We have set up several selective sorting points (glass, cardboard, plastic).
  • We work with a majority of bulk or large packaged products to limit unnecessary packaging.
  • In collaboration with Sapocycle, we recycle the rest of our soaps to give them a second life - a virtuous circle that benefits us all!

WE CARE ABOUT THE WELL-BEING OF OUR CUSTOMERS

  • Our breakfast offer includes organic and/or fair trade products.
  • We give preference to small local seasonal producers to improve the supply chain.
  • Most of the products used to clean our rooms are eco-labelled, which means better air quality and fewer health risks.
  • Our establishment is completely non-smoking.

AND MORE

  • Our green spaces are maintained without pesticides and we use alternative methods to combat weeds and insects.
  • We have partnerships with local recycling centres and donate our old furniture and equipment.
  • Each year we commit to new criteria to perfect our approach.
